Gabriel Franchère papers, 1835-1839.

Chiefly typewritten copies of letters by Franchère, factor of the American Fur Company at Sault Ste. Marie, 1835-1837, giving information about the company's fishing and fur-trading activities. A brief journal of Franchère's voyage of inspection to the fisheries of upper Lake Superior in 1839 and genealogical and biographical information about Franchère and his family are also included.
